MASSHIRE YOUTH START-UP SCHOLARSHIP
The Connecting Activities School to Career program, sponsored by the MA Department of Elementary & Secondary Education and operated by MassHire Metro South/West Workforce Board, focuses on developing college & career awareness programs within high schools to better prepare youth for an ever-changing labor market.
The MassHire Metro South/West Workforce Board welcomes students from member or partner schools to apply for the Start-Up Scholarship, jump starting students in their post-secondary education and career journey. The scholarship will be awarded to recognize students who have been active in their community, school, and their own career development.
How to Apply
Please read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application. Applications must be post marked or emailed by April 30, 2022. and submitted to; MassHire Metro South/West Workforce Board, Meghan Burke, 420 Lakeside Ave, Suite 301, Marlborough, MA 01752 or by email at mburke@masshiremsw.com.
Eligibility
Must complete MassHire Metro MSW Youth Careers Scholarship Application Form-See attached application
Applications will be accepted from students who are enrolled in an active MassHire Metro South/West Youth Careers/Connecting Activities Partner or Member High School*
Grade 12 students who plan to continue their education at an accredited college, post-secondary program or enter the work force in an occupation directly related to their career goal.
Applicants should demonstrate a level of educational growth, be active in community service, and have established specific education and/or career goals.
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
*Norwood HS, Marlborough HS, Waltham HS, Brookline HS and Framingham HS, Bedford HS, Dedham HS, Holliston HS, Lexington HS, Maynard HS, Millis HS, Natick HS, Newton North HS, Walpole HS, Foxborough HS, Keefe Tech Hs, Assabet HS, Minuteman HS.

Enrollment/Acceptance Letter from the institution you plan to attend in the 2020
Essay- Your Essay should be 300-500 words. You should address in your essay:
- How has career education impacted your career goals?
- What are your educational and career goals?
- What you intend to do with the funds from the scholarship
- Why a scholarship is important to you.
ANNOUNCEMENT!
All winners will be notified on or before the 30th of June 2021.
Scholarship amounts will be decided based on need, ranging from $250 – $1000
